Frenalli Language Notes
The following is a primer on how the Frenalli language works, but is mainly designed to help name characters and things in Frenalli. The actual grammar structure is not explained here at this time.

Letters of the Alphabet
In the Frenalli language there are 34 letters in the alphabet and each represents a different sound. This differs from the English alphabet (26 letters) as there are no letters that represent multiple sounds depending on use. Since this is typed using the English alphabet the Frenalli letters are often represented as a combination of two English letters.

Pronunciation Rules
Although we are using the human English language to spell out and convey the Frenal language the way many of the letters are pronounced may be different than what you expect from normal English usage. The following is a listing of all Frenal letters (and letter combinations) and how they are pronounced in Frenalli using English words as examples.

aSounds like 'a' as in tall or 'o' as in hot. Never sounds like 'a' as in hat or tape

Excluded Letters and Sounds
The following English sounds and letters do not exist in the Frenalli language.

jSounds like 'j' as in jewel or 'g' as in cage

Number Rules
Frenalli uses a base seven number system (0-6 repeated) and numbers are written from right to left, rather than left to right like the rest of the language.

HumanFrenalliSpoken Frenalli
00Nar (also used as a word and prefix.)
11Ean (also used as a suffix.)
22Mae
33Tie
44Cal
55Rae
66Den
701Narean
811Eanean
921Maean
1031Tiean
1141Calean
1251Raean
1361Denean
1401Narmae
1512Eanmae

To use numbers alone for proper usage, like "First" and "Second", there are two ways to do that in Frenalli. If it directly connected to another word as a prefix, as in "Eanslon", it simply means First rather than One. When used alone you add "Ra" to it as a prefix to create the usage, as with Raean for First or Raden for sixth.

Dictionary and Word Rules
Some words are actually common combined words that may have a slightly different meaning than if those two words were being used together would normally have. As such they are listed here as words of their own. Some other common combined words mean exactly what they should but are listed because they are so commonly used and known across the land.

General Rules
When two words are connected and the same letter connects them, creating a double letter, the double letter is often shrunk into a single letter. This is usually true but not always. [example: El + Lon = Elon = New Day]

When two or more words are connected for reasons of meaning, but there needs to be a pause in the middle when speaking a ' is placed where the brief pause should take place. These pauses are far shorter than the pause found between words. [example: Dale'ara = Eggs of a spider]
